Hello!
The following problem, please for quick help I am now desperate, because I have to do it. no temporal resources, our intern is unfortunately also here 😞
I am supposed to put a QR code on our business cards, which should be scanned with a camera app and then allows the possibility to create contacts by scan - unfortunately only the link to the LInkedIn profile works during the scan.... Please don't refer me to the Adobe help page, I've already scoured all the forums. the series documentary. sparks too, just the "contact creation QR code" doesn't... E.g. my VK in the attachment, on the screenshot you can see the Indesign file with the placeholders.
I thank you in advance for any help as to what the problem could be!! My head is slowly bursting at the seams. and at best we have the printed business cards in the house until the middle of September, at the event.
Thank you and sunny, but overwhelmed greetings
Jana

Hi @jana_4214,
I understand how important this functionality is for you, and I apologize for the inconvenience that its unavailability may cause. Unfortunately, InDesign currently doesn't support creating QR codes with embedded business card details directly. You can only generate QR codes for email, SMS, hyperlinks, or plain text.
If you’d like to see this feature in future updates, I recommend creating a UserVoice request and adding your comments there: Adobe InDesign: Feature Requests: Top (5015 ideas) – Adobe InDesign (https://adobe.ly/4dJf7Yu). This will help us prioritize the feature, and you’ll be notified of any updates.
Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. We’re here to help!
Best,
Abhishek

Your content string is badly formed but I cannot determine exactly where. I think the solution mosly lies in assembling/formatting this string correctly.
In general—
- It is usually better to enter the content using the PLAIN TEXT mode, not the "Business Card" form. That seems to be your approach but I am not quite sure how you are getting the data from your records to InDesign's feature; unless you have many cards to do, I would create each QR code separately and not try to use Data Merge. Just create compatible strings and cut and paste them one at a time into the Plain Text field.
- It is usually better to use actual line breaks in the source and not line-break code like \r or \n.
- It is recommended that you use a newer vCard standard (3 or 4), as v2.1 has limits on the characters it will accept and, particularly in Europe, has problems with accented characters and characters outside the base ASCII set.
Other than that, I don't see any serious faults; it's just that the vCard data string is very fussy about small details.

Happy to answer further questions if you don't sort it out from this post.
